These EVs aren’t for sale yet but are in various stages from concept to production\u2014and perhaps a few may never see the light of day.<\/p>\n

Electric cars<\/a>\u00a0are the future, and each year we’ve seen automakers add more EVs to their lineups. Everyone is working on electric vehicles, from well-established existing manufacturers to new names such as\u00a0Lucid<\/a>, Canoo, and\u00a0Rivian<\/a>. We’ve compiled a list of every electric vehicle, from concept to production, that isn’t available yet but will be soon.<\/p>\n

Acura\u2019s first EV, the\u00a0ZDX<\/a>, was built on the bones of the Chevrolet Blazer EV, but now Acura is readying its next electric crossover, this time rolling on a new electric architecture developed by parent company Honda. Previewed by the Performance EV concept, the crossover will have a sloped coupe-like roofline and a pointy front end. We expect the base version will make around 350 horsepower, while the Veloce will produce closer to 800 horsepower. The top-of-the-line Giulia will continue to carry the historic\u00a0Quadrifoglio<\/a>\u00a0name and should make upward of 1000 horsepower. The new Giulia will be produced on the Stellantis Group’s STLA Large platform, with 800-volt, ultra-rapid charging and a range of up to 500 miles. The charge will be spearheaded by the compact A390, sharing a platform with the Nissan Ariya and expected in 2027, along with a more wagon-like A490. Still, Alpine intends to have an electric successor to its A110 coupe as a flagship model, with a debut in 2026. Alpine will also battle the Porsche Taycan with the A310, set to arrive in 2028. The\u00a0Audi Q6 e-tron<\/a>\u00a0slots between the\u00a0Q4<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Q8 e-tron<\/a>\u00a0crossovers and rides on the same PPE architecture that underpins the\u00a0Porsche Macan EV<\/a>. A 94.4-kWh battery should provide around 300 miles of range and the 800-volt setup allows for DC fast-charging at 270 kilowatts, going from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 21 minutes. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive Q6 e-tron produces 422 horsepower, while the SQ6 e-tron ups that to 483 ponies, with a boost mode adding just over 30 horsepower for each model. On\u00a0a prototype test drive<\/a>, we found a comfortable ride and punchy acceleration. The base model sends 362 hp to the rear wheels and is joined by a 422-hp all-wheel-drive variant and a 543-hp S6 e-tron. The latter will zip to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. A 94.4-kWh battery should provide around 350 miles of range, while the PPE platform\u2019s 800-volt architecture allows for rapid charging at up to 270 kW. Inside, a curved panel houses a 14.5-inch infotainment screen and an 11.9-inch digital gauge cluster, while the passenger can play games or watch videos on an optional 14.5-inch display. Bentley has pushed back its first EV by two years to 2027, with a reveal set for 2026. The British marque’s CEO said the delay was due to software issues and other concerns over the platform, with the EV due to ride on a version of the Volkswagen Group’s PPE architecture. Bentley is targeting a range of at least 373 miles and advanced driver-assistance technology. Fender flares, a more aggressive stance, and 1136 horsepower will combine to produce the\u00a0upcoming BMW i5 M<\/a>, which won’t arrive before 2026. The new high-performance four-motor drivetrain will incorporate wheel-by-wheel torque vectoring and brake-by-motor energy regeneration and will be capable of piloted drifting and tank turns where the vehicle can use its prodigious torque output to spin in place. The concept uses experimental e-Ink technology\u2014similar to what you’d find on an eReader tablet\u2014on the window trim that lights up as you approach the car. The simplistic cabin has a full-width screen spanning the dashboard. The car will be built on BMW’s next-generation EV platform which promises range improvements of up to 30 percent versus current models. Buick revived the nameplate of the 18-foot-long steel sled from 1959 for its new all-electric SUV that’s already been on sale in China. An investigation into trademarks may have revealed Buick’s future lineup, with filings for Electra E1 through E9. While Buick had originally planned to reveal its first EV in 2024, the vehicle\u00a0has now been delayed<\/a>, with the Electra E5\u2019s arrival possibly hampered by tariffs on Chinese-built EVs. At least that’s the plan with the\u00a0upcoming Celestiq<\/a>, an extravagant EV that will be\u00a0built by hand and cost upward of $300K<\/a>. That price puts it out of reach for all but the wealthiest people, but Cadillac envisions the Celestiq as aspirational rather than attainable. For the one percent who can afford one of these avant-garde 600-hp electric hatchbacks, each example can be uniquely tailored to the customer’s whims. Will it be enough to vault GM’s luxury brand into the discussion with Bentley and Rolls-Royce? The luxurious cabin is decked out with 55 inches of screen stretching across the entire dashboard and a 40-speaker sound system. The first images show a “600E4” badge, suggesting a similar 500-hp, dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain to the most powerful Lyriq model. Canoo says its pickup will be offered with a six-to-eight-foot pickup bed, but it’s unclear when production will begin. Like Canoo’s pickup, this five- or seven-seat EV is built on a skateboard platform, similar to what BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen use to easily swap body styles on similar underpinnings. Canoo claims this little bus will have a range of 200 miles and up to 350 horsepower, with a starting price under $40,000. A delivery-van version has\u00a0attracted 4500 pre-orders from Walmart<\/a>, while NASA has expressed interest in using the Lifestyle Vehicle for transport at the launch site for the upcoming Artemis moon-landing missions. The Corvette cinematic universe is about to plunge into a phase so wild that Marvel might start taking notes. Chevrolet has\u00a0already confirmed that a fully electric Corvette<\/a>\u00a0is coming soon\u2014sooner than we might think since the\u00a0E-Ray hybrid<\/a>\u00a0that recently broke cover was slated to make its debut first. The\u00a0Corvette EV<\/a>\u00a0will use the same Ultium battery platform as other new GM EVs, and considering the General can get a fifty-trillion-ton Hummer EV to reach 60 mph in under 4 seconds, we have high hopes for the Corvette EV.<\/p>\n

But wait, there’s more! We’re hearing rumors that the Corvette EV will launch into\u00a0a new Corvette subbrand<\/a>\u00a0within GM, which will bring a host of new Corvette-branded models with it, including a four-door “coupe” and a high-performance crossover, which could easily position itself as a\u00a0Ford Mustang Mach-E<\/a>\u00a0competitor\u2014or something even beefier. \u2014Andrew Krok<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Or\u2014in the case of the\u00a0Chevy Bolt<\/a>\u2014what does kill you makes you stronger. At least that’s the outlook of General Motors’ CEO, who\u00a0confirmed the little EV’s revival in July<\/a>. The Bolt will return for a second generation and Chevrolet promised that the electric hatchback will continue to be a tech-centric, affordable option. We know the next-gen Bolt will ride on the Ultium platform, and it should arrive for the 2025 model year. The automaker also said that the upcoming EV will differ from the\u00a0Airflow<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0concept, pictured here. Rumors suggest a 400-mile driving range and Level 3 autonomous driving capability, and we think the electric crossover will be closely related to the upcoming Jeep Wagoneer S. Dodge is determined to keep the muscle car relevant well into the electric epoch with the\u00a02024 Charger Daytona<\/a>. At launch, the Charger\u2014which now comes in two- and four-door flavors\u2014featured two dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrains. The R\/T pumps out up to 496 horsepower and the Scat Pack produces a maximum of 670 ponies, with the latter rocketing to 60 mph in a claimed 3.3 seconds. A 400-volt architecture allows for recharging times of around 28 minutes from 20 to 80 percent, and the 93.9-kWh battery will provide a 317-mile range for the R\/T and a 260-mile range for the Scat Pack. It will be built at the new BlueOval City campus in Tennessee, with production ramping up slowly to prevent quality issues. Rumors of Genesis’s electric flagship SUV were effectively confirmed when the automaker revealed the opulent\u00a0Neolun concept<\/a>\u00a0ahead of the 2024 New York auto show. Expected to use the name\u00a0GV90<\/a>, the large SUV will share its underpinnings with the Kia EV9 and the upcoming production version of the Hyundai Ioniq 7. The GV90 should eke out around 250 miles of range and produce roughly 500 horsepower from a pair of electric motors. While Honda is partnering with GM for the Prologue, the Japanese automaker is busy preparing its own electric platform that will underpin its next EV. Due in 2026, Honda previewed the upcoming car with the\u00a0Saloon concept<\/a>, a wildly futuristic torpedo-like vehicle. It’s unclear just how much of the unorthodox styling will make production, but Honda’s platform will pack a new high-density battery that the automaker claims will recharge from 15 to 80 percent in 10 to 15 minutes. On a bigger SUV like this, we expect a large battery that could support at least 300 miles of range and we expect powertrains to be similar to those used by the Kia EV9. The bodywork is sleek and chiseled, while the cabin looks luxurious with a trio of screens and a host of accessories. Initial versions will pack a 600-hp dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain, sprinting to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. Jeep claims over 300 miles of range, and prices for the Launch Edition will start at $71,995.
